Animals Are People Too

By Yehudit Mam, August 1, 2015

Tonight, Saturday, August 1st, something extraordinary will take place in New York City. Images of endangered animals will be projected on the Empire State Building to raise consciousness about conservation. We can’t wait!

The internet has unleashed the fury of most people when it comes to the abuse and murder of animals. Used to be that when hunters killed wild animals, they could hang their severed heads on their walls and maybe send a triumphant snapshot or two to their friends and relatives via snail mail. But as their sorry egos need to brag to the four winds about their trophies, now they share these pictures on social media and general opprobrium spreads like wildfire.

They have become pariahs, which is fair and fitting. However, we much prefer creative consciousness-raising than virtual lynch mobs, no matter how righteous. This amazing project, which comes together with a film, is a much more constructive, moving and inspiring way to make people understand that we must respect and protect animals, and that their abuse and persecution is a crime.
